Described as ‘exactly how a V12 Ferrari for the modern world should be’ in a road test by The Independent newspaper, the 599 replaced the 575 as Ferrari’s production flagship model. The engine, a very slightly modified version of the 6-litre V12 Enzo and housing the power of 611 prancing horses, is capable of achieving 0-100 miles per hours in 7.4 seconds. An all-aluminium chassis reduces the weight of the completed car over that of the 575, and this is complemented by a Formula One SuperFast gearbox, F1-Trac stability and traction control, magnetic semi-active dampers and carbon-ceramic brakes. With a top speed of 205 miles per hour, the car’s aero system can generate up to 150kgs of downforce at its zenith.
The convertible version of the 599, the Aperta, was launched at the 2010 Paris Motor Show as a very limited edition to honour the work of designers Sergio Pininfarina and Andrea Pininfarina. Only 80 examples were released by the Maranello marque. The SA Aperta utilises the heightened performance engine from the 599 GTO variant.
This fine 1:8 scale model of the Ferrari 599 SA Aperta has been handcrafted and finished in our workshops with the co-operation and assistance of Ferrari regarding original finishes, materials, archive imagery and drawings. The use of supremely accurate digital scanning of the original car has allowed us to perfectly recreate every detail at scale. Furthermore, it has undergone detailed scrutiny by both engineering and design teams to ensure complete accuracy of representation.
Every Amalgam 1:8 scale model is supplied in a luxury black presentation box and mounted on a carbon fibre or leather base protected by a clear acrylic dust cover. The model title, original branding and edition number are displayed on polished stainless steel plaques mounted at the front end of the base.
